My name is Chris Beardsall. I am a 42-year-old father of 3, and I have been a member of Helotes CrossFit for 5 ½ years.
My primary job is Academic Dean at St. Philip’s College where I am responsible for the academic integrity, quality of instruction, and completion of over 1,500 students over 22 different programs. In my role as Dean my student population varies from high school dual credit students to those who are in their 50’s realizing a lifelong dream of a higher education degree. My greatest moment at work is every fall and spring graduation when “my” students, particularly the older generation, walk the stage, and realize their dream with their wife, husband, sons, daughters, and many times grandchildren cheering them on with tears in their eyes.
I became a coach at Helotes CrossFit to give back to the Helotes CrossFit community the way I try to give back to my students at St. Philip’s College; helping my athletes realize their fitness goals and dreams. I try to be a resource to Helotes CrossFit athletes the way other coaches were to me when I first walked in the doors.
In my spare time I like competing in local CrossFit events which continues to test and push myself towards new goals. I also enjoy playing softball, participating in Tough Mudders, and Spartan races, as well as the occasional 5K, 10K, or half marathon.
