JOSIAH DAMIANO

Coach

I was born in San Antonio, Texas, and have lived here most of my life. I started CrossFit about 9 years ago, and still love it to this day! I am currently pursuing a degree in Molecular Biology at Texas Lutheran University, and am hoping to do something in the field of medicine when I graduate. I am a follower of Jesus Christ, and I try to make him a part of my daily life by being as much like him as I can.

I started CrossFit at age 11, and have learned so much from so many different people and hope to continue perfecting my craft. I was semi-competitive in CrossFit from 2015-2016, and placed 42nd in the world for the CrossFit games (14-15) age category in 2016. I ran cross country, track, and played soccer all 4 years in high school and currently run track for Texas Lutheran University. I became interested in coaching my senior year in high school and recently became a CrossFit Level 1 coach August 2019.

My desire is to use my knowledge to help others achieve their goals inside and outside the gym. HCF has always been my second home (my family) so I’m always excited whenever I can be there, whether working out, or coaching. So that’s me in a nutshell, hope to see you in the gym soon!

MORRIS WHITE

Coach

Hi, I’m Morris White III but most friends and family call me “Mo” so you can too! I played sports my entire life and have a Bachelor’s in Psychology with two minors (Health & Physical Education and Speech Communication) with a Master’s in Athletic Administration. At HCF I’m mostly known as the high energy, vocal motivator who will help you cross the finish line at the end of a WOD.

I moved to San Antonio in July 2017 to work for UTSA as an administrator in the athletics department overseeing all things marketing and community relations. After spending 13 years in the world of college athletics, I now work as a digital marketing consultant helping local small businesses with their online presence.

While transitioning jobs, I needed an outlet and found Helotes Crossfit. I immediately fell in love with this place and became a member in February 2019. Our family comprised members and coaches at HCF is what makes this place special and when asked in February 2020 to become a coach and pursue my Level-1 training certification, I was honored and humbled. I enjoy helping others achieve their health and fitness goals and have been a coach since October 2020.

Outside of the box, I’m likely spending time at home with my wife Kari and our three daughters: Mikayla, Kendall and Cora (twins) all of which you’ll occasionally see at HCF.

ANDREW FIELDS

Coach

Howdy! My name is Andrew Fields, most people call me Drew. I am a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer and have been doing CrossFit for the past two years. I obtained a Kinesiology Degree and Master’s of Sports Management from Texas A&M University in 2017 and 2019. I am a full time teacher and coach at Judson High School.

At a very young age I grew to love sports and most physical activities. At Texas A&M I played for the Men’s Volleyball Team competing at a national level for 5 years. I also worked a lot with the Aggie Volleyball Team and coaching staff in my time at Texas A&M. After my third year at Texas A&M, I started doing CrossFit and saw dramatic changes in my ability to play volleyball in the following two years.

I obtained my CrossFit Level 1 certificate in July of 2020 and absolutely love coaching everyone at Helotes CrossFit. The gym provides an incredibly welcoming, encouraging and fun environment for everyone and I am proud to be a part of the wholesome atmosphere. Helotes CrossFit helped me achieve my fitness goals and continues to push me to reach for new ones each and every day. I can’t wait to help you achieve yours.

CHRIS BEARDSALL

Coach

My name is Chris Beardsall. I am a 42-year-old father of 3, and I have been a member of Helotes CrossFit for 5 ½ years.

My primary job is Academic Dean at St. Philip’s College where I am responsible for the academic integrity, quality of instruction, and completion of over 1,500 students over 22 different programs. In my role as Dean my student population varies from high school dual credit students to those who are in their 50’s realizing a lifelong dream of a higher education degree. My greatest moment at work is every fall and spring graduation when “my” students, particularly the older generation, walk the stage, and realize their dream with their wife, husband, sons, daughters, and many times grandchildren cheering them on with tears in their eyes.

I became a coach at Helotes CrossFit to give back to the Helotes CrossFit community the way I try to give back to my students at St. Philip’s College; helping my athletes realize their fitness goals and dreams. I try to be a resource to Helotes CrossFit athletes the way other coaches were to me when I first walked in the doors.

In my spare time I like competing in local CrossFit events which continues to test and push myself towards new goals. I also enjoy playing softball, participating in Tough Mudders, and Spartan races, as well as the occasional 5K, 10K, or half marathon.

EDWARD RODRIGUEZ

Coach

My name is Edward Rodriguez and I’ve been a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer since 2014. I’m a husband and father of two beautiful children. I’m also a Financial Advisor at a local investment company headquartered here in San Antonio. I found Helotes CrossFit in 2012 and was immediately blown away by the community and support system surrounding the box. As my first couple of years progressed I felt the desire to pursue CrossFit as not only a hobby, but as a passion. It was then that I decided to earn my coaching certificate.

I’ve always participated in competitive sports and one day hope to pass the lessons I’ve learned in CrossFit to my children in hopes of not only sharing the benefits of fitness but of being a part of a community. As a coach I enjoy working with new athletes, especially starting on the ground floor and helping them build a solid foundation and understanding of fundamentals. As an adult I now appreciate how much emphasis my childhood coaches placed on fundamentals, and that is what I like to bring to the floor when I coach athletes.

I love to coach as much as I love being coached. I encourage athletes to be accepting and open minded about their fitness, nutrition, and the community surrounding them. I like to have a plan but I take things day by day and workout by workout. I like heavy weights, LOVE loud music and absolutely despise running (but I force myself to do it anyway). Never hesitate to ask me for help. I’m always willing offer guidance when I can.

DAVID BELLOWS

Coach

My name is David Bellows. I am married, and my wife and I had our son in November of 2017. I was born in Orlando, Florida, but grew up here in San Antonio. Currently, I work full time as a Firefighter for the San Antonio Fire Department. I joined the Fire Department in 2016. In 2006 I joined the Navy and became a rescue swimmer. During my training I was introduced to CrossFit by one of my instructors.

One of the biggest things that drew me to CrossFit was the variations in the workouts and the intensity that can come from something that looks like it would not be super difficult. I got out of the Navy in 2011 and moved back to San Antonio in 2012. I joined Helotes CrossFit shortly after getting back. I was a member for two years before I received my Level 1 certification and started coaching for HCF under Rick. I have always enjoyed helping people reach their goals.

Fitness and health are important to me and I try my best to make sure that everyone who is willing to put forth the effort can achieve their fitness goals. I strongly believe that fitness is not just about showing up to the gym. It takes dedication and drive to truly make the changes that most people want to see. A great coach can help you get out of your comfort zone and accomplish things you did not think were possible. Outside of coaching, I enjoy motorcycles, mountain biking, camping, hiking, skiing.

ISAIAH LONGBOY

Coach

Aloha! I’m Isaiah Longboy. I’m a Texas-born, Hawai’i-raised, go with the flow dude that loves to help others. I am a devoted Christian. I love my family, and anything outdoors. I moved back to San Antonio after graduating from high school in Hawai’i to pursue a degree in kinesiology at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

When I first moved back to Texas I was very lonely. However, after joining Helotes Crossfit I fell in love with it. Not only with the sport of fitness itself, but the community that comes along with it. I fully embraced Crossfit, and the mindset that there is always room to improve.

After about a year of being a competitive crossfitter I decided to get my Level-1 training certification, and started coaching as of March 2019. It has always been a dream of mine to help others in some way. So, being able to coach was what I felt called to do.

I have been blessed with a number of gifts. One of those gifts is being good at CrossFit. The other being a loving leader, and I am always looking for ways to use these gifts to glorify God’s name.

MIKE TREVINO

Coach

My name is Mike Trevino and I am a current full-time Teacher/Coach but also continue to Coach at Helotes Crossfit as a Certified Level 1 Trainer. I am married to my beautiful wife, Ashlee, who has also been a member at HCF for over 4 years now. We have 2 fur-babies which adds craziness to both of our lives, but we wouldn’t trade them for the world.

Recently, at the beginning of the 2017, my wife and I gave our lives to Christ as she led me to a place called Community Bible Church. That has been a blessing to not only the two of us, but to my brother and his girlfriend, along with our parents. Being God-driven in everything that we do has allowed us to seek things not for our best interests, but for others that surround us.

Growing up, I have dealt with so many challenges since birth. I have gone through 4 major surgeries, our house burned down, and my mom was diagnosed with cancer. Only by the grace of God He has healed us and continued to lead us down his path of victory. Facing adversity is a part of life, but with the way we respond in certain situations dictates not who we are, but WHOSE we are!

I’ve been a competitive Crossfit athlete through HCF for 5 years, and it has helped me establish a place I like to call home. To add some more beauty to being at HCF, coaching alongside my younger brother, Bam, has provided us a deeper love for each other. He’s one of the best things that has ever been given to me, and I want to help him be successful towards his future endeavors.

We are so community-driven at Helotes CrossFit that it’s not about what facility we have, equipment, location, etc. The people and our coaching staff are second to none. The minute I walked into HCF, I knew it was something special, and I have received so many blessings through our ministry.

BAM TREVINO

Head Coach

Hi! My name is Bam Trevino. My real name is Christopher, but ever since I was four years old BamBam has taken place of that. (If you would ever like to know the story behind the name just ask, I love telling it!)

I moved here for school and I am currently pursuing a Kinesiology degree in Physical Education at The University of Texas, San Antonio. I am so blessed to have found Helotes CrossFit, I call it my 2nd home.

I have been doing CrossFit for a few years now and fell in love with teaching and learning new things. I chose to become a Lvl-1 Trainer here at HCF a few months after being here and began coaching one year after starting. This has been one of the greatest decisions of my life! I love what I do and I love the people I am able to help each day. This has been a true blessing in my life.

I live by three F’s, FAITH, FAMILY, FITNESS. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and always try my best to lift up those around me.

“The only time you should ever look down on someone is when you are lifting them up!”

ANGELA DAMIANO

Coach/Owner

My name is Angela Damiano. I was born in San Antonio, TX, but was raised in Sacramento, CA. My husband and I moved to San Antonio, TX when I enlisted into the U.S. Navy as a Spanish linguist. I am married to the best man in the world and have four beautiful babies. After I separated from the U.S. Navy I went on to get my Bachelors Degree in business with a minor in Spanish studies and received my Masters degree in Occupational Safety and Health. I enjoy everything that involves my husband and kids and taking family trips together. I also enjoy snuggling in my electric blanket, sipping hot tea, and reading a good book. What I love most about coaching at Helotes CrossFit is when I get to see someone who I have helped reach a Personal Best in a certain skill or movement they have been working on (first pull-up, rope climb, handstand pushup, box jump to a new height, double-unders for the first time, etc…). I also greatly value the many lifelong friendships I have made in the process.
